About the University

The Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (RVSKVV) Gwalior is a multi campii university and is offering following degree programmes coupled with practical trainings as detailed below: 

(1)   B.Sc (Ag.) degree programme: At College of Agriculture, Gwalior, Indore Sehore and Khandwa.

(2)   B.Sc (Hort.) degree Programme; At College of Horticulture, Mandsaur.

(3)   M.Sc (Ag.) degree programme; In the subjects of (a) Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, (b) Agronomy (c) Agricultural Entomology (d) Plant Pathology  (e) Genetics & Plant Breeding (f) Agricultural Extension (g) Agril. Economics & Farm Management.

(4)   M.Sc (Horticulture) degree programme in (a) Fruit Science (b) Vegetable Science (c) Floriculture & land Scape Architecture (d) Plantation, Spices, Medicinal & Aromatic Crops.

Mandate

The Dean Students Welfare provides ample scope, opportunities and facilities for the all round development of personality and leadership qualities of students. Students participate effectively in the management of hostels, food services, games & sports, cultural and literary activities, professional societies for each college under the guidance of staff counselor. The directorate has following mandate.

·         To plan and direct, in co-ordination with Vishwa Vidyalaya officers and authorities, all non-curricular activities for students including, recreation centers, co-operatives, etc., as may from time to time be approved by the Vishwa Vidyalaya for welfare of students.

·         To supervise the management of students hostels, messing arrangements and cafeterias.

·         To co-operate with the staff in charge of physical education activities, National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS) and other allied activities.

·         To deal, in consultation with the Dean of the Faculty concerned, with student discipline and other irregularities.

·         To supervise health programmes and medical facilities for students.

·         To make arrangements for scholarships, stipends, employment through Campus Interviews and other such assistance as may be deemed necessary for welfare of students.

·         To be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in the exercise of powers and discharge of duties under the Act.

·         To co-operate and assist the Employment Bureau in the matters of employment of the students who have completed courses in Vishwa Vidyalaya.

 

Counseling & Placement Cell

·         Students after admission to Undergraduate and Post-Graduate degree programmes are assigned to teachers for counseling and guidance.

·         Orientation Programme for students is organized in each College at College level.

·         Semester Progress report of every student is sent to their parents by advisors.

·         Students’ advisement for foreign study and scholarship is provided.

·         The university has a full-fledged Placement Cell under the Dean Student Welfare to arrange for campus interviews for placement of graduate and post-graduate students.

·         The cell also counsels students on the availability of scholarships, avenues for higher studies and career opportunities.

Tutorial Cell

The faculty members of the university take regularly extra classes for providing guidance to students for JRF, SRF and NET examination of ICAR and several other examinations. Each department has developed model question bank to help the students. In addition to the above, the students are also subjected to:

(iii)  Mock-Interviews-Group discussions

·         The student get ample opportunity to participate in various co-curricular and extra curricular activities for better personality development, through Inter collegiate and Inter university games sports and cultural meet.

·         Travel Facilities : To facilitate, traveling by students going to their homes during the semester break and to undertake study tours in different parts of India, railway concession orders are arranged for them.

·         Celebration of National Festival: Independence Day, Republic Day etc. are celebrated in a befitting manner.

·         Picnic and Hiking: A few picnics to the place of scenic beauty away from the campus are arranged as and when desired and feasible.

§  Forty students (22 girls and 18 boys) participated in the 10th All India Inter Agricultural University Sports and Games Meet, “AGRIUNISPORTS 2009” organized at JNKVV, Jabalpur, 3-6 March, 2009 and one student received Silver Medal in Long Jump.

§  Forty students (31 boys and 09 girls) participated in 11th All India Inter Agricultural University Sports and Games meet “AGRIUNISPORTS 2010” organized at MPKV Parbhani, Maharastra, 23-26 February, 2010 and their performance was appreciated by one and all.

§  In Agri - Unisports 2011 organized jointly by KAU, Thrissur, Kerala and ICAR, 16-20 Feb., 2011, 28 boys and 12 girls participated and their performance was good.

§  Forty one students (31 boys and 10 girls) participated in XIIIth All India Inter Agricultural University Sports and Games meet “AGRIUNISPORTS 2012” organized at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, 16-19 February, 2012 and the performance was again very good.

Cultural Activities:

§  11th All India Inter Agricultural University Youth Festival was organized by SAM HIGGINBOTTOM Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences Allahabad (U.P.) during 8-12 February, 2010. Students (22) of this university actively participated in the events and received Gold Medal in Dance and Debate competitions.

§  12th All India Inter Agricultural University Youth Festival was organized by Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujrat) during 17-21 January, 2011. Students (23) of this university participated in the events and secured second position and Silver Medal in Rangoli and fourth position in light vocal competitions.

Housing of Students

Vishwa Vidyalaya has 16 hostels including seven for female students at different campii of the Vishwa Vidyalaya. They offer comfortable and fully secured accommodation to students. There are common rooms, dining halls with a Colored T.V. with cable facility etc. for their entertainment. The newspapers and magazines are provided in hostels, medical facilities are provided to all hostel in-mates.

The Hostel cafeteria is equipped with refrigerator, water cooler and utensils in adequate quantity. Each hostel Cafeteria is run and managed by the students on cooperative basis. During summer vacations annual repairs and white washing is done for the benefit of the students. The students residing in the hostel are to abide by hostel and cafeteria regulations/rules. Every hostel has one P&T telephone facility. During tournaments and competitions, the students are expected to be in the proper kit.

Students’ Discipline:

 A student is expected to reflect under all the circumstances proper respect for order, morality and rights of others and such sense of personal honor as demanded of a good citizen. The University reserves the right to drop any student whose conduct is deemed improper or prejudicial to the good order and interest of the University. The serious cases of indiscipline are referred to the University Disciplinary Committee. The overall discipline at the present juncture is encouragingly good.

 

Placement & Information Bureau:

 

We produce highly skilled, competent and qualified human resource every year in the form of Agriculture/Horticulture graduates and postgraduates and doctorates.

Ever since the establishment of this university in the year 2008, different institutions, e.g. Nationalized banks, Government departments, Cooperatives, NGOs, Corporate sector, Agro-based MNCs etc have selected our students (over 700 in number), for senior and middle order jobs, who were persuing their graduate degree and post-graduate degree programmes in different subjects.

The university is growing very fast in the dynamic leadership of an internationally renowned Scientist, Professor A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of this university. His untiring efforts have enabled us to make collaborations with many International Research Institutions where our manpower will get opportunities to upgrade their skills. Our highly qualified and trained human resource, absorbed by different institutions, is working for the better cause of the society in the relevant fields.
